- Python 3 installed on the computer
- Insert the SD/microSD card into your system.

mset9.bat
.
- On macOS, double-click on
mset9.command
.

python3 -m mset9.py
.
- Once you're in the script menu, use the numbers 1-4 (followed by a press of the Enter key) to choose the corresponding model and firmware version for your system.
- Press
1
and then Enter to run the sanity check. It will tell you that your title database needs to be initialized.
- Close the script and insert the SD/microSD card back into your system.
- Launch System Settings.
-
Go to Data Management → Nintendo 3DS → Software. If a message pops up about data corruption, press Reset.

- Don't touch the screen or any buttons, but make sure you see the Mii Maker icon.
- With the system still turned on, remove the SD/microSD card from your system and insert it into your computer.
- Reopen the mset9 script and choose the correct firmware and model for your system again. Once you've done that, press
2
and then the Enter key to select Inject MSET9 payload
.
- Once injection has completed, close the mset9 script and insert the SD/microSD card back into your system.
- Follow the directions shown on the bottom screen.
-
When done, the file
partitionA.bin
will be located on your SD/microSD card in the /spotpass_cache/
folder.
- If you wish to remove the payload and use this SD/microSD card as normal, reopen the mset9 script and choose the
Remove MSET9
option.
